Malina Chavez earned her MFA in Experimental and Documentary Arts from Duke University. Her Google Street project 1949 Armistice Agreement Line explored the borders that separate Gaza and Israel and was the recipient of the 2013 SPE Jeannie Pearce Award for Innovations in Imaging. She currently lives in Chapel Hill, NC, and is a self-taught abstract painter and mixed-media artist working in contemporary abstract expressionism, color field painting, and informalism.
